Appearing in the Tale of Genji picture scroll, the Jirozaemon Hina doll is characterized by its black hair, round face with a hooked nose and eyes that look like a dumpling. It dominated popularity in Edo for about 30 years, from the Horeki, Meiwa, An'ei, Tenmei and Kansei eras, and was long held in high esteem by the nobility and feudal lords as the mainstream of Hina dolls, regardless of trends.
This is expressed in this work by female writer Shimizu Hisayuki.
