Tradition and Art
Searching for new possibilities for Hina dolls
By fusing the traditional Japanese culture of Hina dolls with art, we collaborated with sculptor Ai Haibara to create a completely new Hina doll. Haibara's modern approach to her work and her warm worldview have created new value for Hina dolls while still respecting tradition. With the warmth of wood and a gentle expression, this is a worthy Hina doll that will watch over your child's growth and can be treasured and displayed for a long time even after they grow up.

New Hina dolls to match modern interiors
The modern design of these Hina dolls with the warmth of wood blends well with contemporary interiors.
The sophisticated appearance is not too flashy and will fit in with any space, whether Western-style or Japanese-style.

A gentle expression that you'll want to look at forever
The artist's distinctive warm worldview has brought new value to the culture of Hina dolls. The rich expressions of the dolls are timeless and appealing.
Made from wood
A new form of Hina dolls
In order to realize the worldview of this work, I attempted to create Hina dolls from scratch using a completely new technique. I undertook a completely new manufacturing method that involved carving solid wood from scratch and painting each one by hand, resulting in a new type of Hina doll that incorporates high technique and rich expression.
The three-dimensional expression of the kimono's patterns and wrinkles can only be achieved through sculpture. The cherry blossom pattern appears three-dimensionally on the kimono.
The deep colors and warm atmosphere created by layering multiple layers of color. The gentle world view that only Haibara can express is charming.
Each piece is carefully carved from solid cypress. We are particular about expressing the wrinkles and patterns of the kimono in a three-dimensional way, which is unique to wood carving. Then we finish it by applying layers of paint by hand.
An original display stand with a cherry blossom and tachibana flower motif
The base of the Hina dolls is made with a tachibana flower motif for the prince and a cherry blossom motif for the princess.
Dedicated storage case
We have created a special storage box for the Hina dolls to keep them safe. It makes it easy to take them out and put them back in every year.
