[NEW] Going through the seasons - 24 solar terms 2nd [Rainwater]

February 19th - March 5th, 2023

24 solar terms 2nd rainwater (light water)

The falling snow turns to rain and the snow begins to thaw.

The snow that had piled up on the mountains slowly melts, moistening the earth.

There are still some areas with deep snow, but as the harsh cold eases and warm rain falls, the snow will begin to melt. When the frozen earth awakens and plants begin to sprout.

The soil began to become moist with water from the melting snow, so it was considered a time to start preparing for farming.

Also, on March 3rd, there is Momo no Sekku, one of the five seasonal festivals, ``Joshi no Sekku''.
It is said that it is best to decorate the dolls after exorcising demons during Setsubun, the first day of spring, and before the time of rain.

*A detailed introduction to the Peach Festival will be posted in [Peach Festival Customs].

Now, I would like to introduce you to the events that took place during the rainy season.

◆Peach Festival◆

``Joshi no Sekku'', which is one of the five seasonal festivals, falls on March 3rd and is also called ``Peach Festival'' because it coincides with the time when peaches bloom.

decorating dolls

It is said that displaying Hina dolls is a way to have them take care of disasters and illnesses, and families with girls display them to pray for their growth and happiness. This idea became today's celebratory culture. Hina dolls are a talisman for women to be displayed at any age, and not only girls but all women can enjoy them as decorations or as seasonal decorations.

Celebration "Hinamatsuri"

On this day, families with girls celebrate and pray for their healthy growth and happiness as the Doll's Festival. At the celebratory table, we prepare celebratory food such as chirashi sushi, clam soup, hina arare, sakuramochi, and white sake.

Festivals are seasonal turning points, and they are not only a time to celebrate, but also a time to take care of your family and your body, and reevaluate your lifestyle.
Let's use it as a time to prepare both body and mind.

◆Sankanshion (three cold and four warm)◆

``Sankanshion'' is a seasonal word for winter, but it is best experienced during spring.
`` If the cold days last for about three days, then the warm days continue for about four days. '' This means that these days repeat, and gradually the number of warm days increases, and we move towards spring and then summer.

Additionally, spring is characterized by the dramatic temperature differences between morning and evening, and is characterized by expressions related to seasonal boundaries and climate, such as `` first spring '' and ` `the return of the cold ''.

February 23rd Emperor's Birthday

On May 1, 2019 (Reiwa 1), His Majesty the Emperor abdicated, and the current Emperor ascended to the throne. The Emperor's Birthday literally means the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor, and is designated as one of the national holidays under the National Holidays Act.

What is the difference between "holiday" and "holiday"?

I think that there are few people who are concerned about the difference between [holiday] and [holiday], so I would like you to be aware of it.

[Holidays] are holidays stipulated by law.

[Holidays] are days on which religious rituals were once held.

Japanese holidays and festivals are as follows.

In the Seventy-Ninth War of the Years of [Rain Water], it is expressed as follows.

When the mist begins to drift over the mountains bathed in the morning sun.

February is coming to an end, and March is just around the corner.

Flowers are beginning to bud, and the next seasonal season, ``Keichitsu'', marks mid-spring. Insects are starting to move, and peach blossoms are starting to bloom early.

I still felt like winter, with the cold mornings and evenings.

As I was decorating my hina dolls, I finally started to think about spring.

It looks like there will be a lot of spring vegetables on the supermarket shelves soon.
