Painted by Japanese painter Haruho Tokunaga,
A top-quality product carefully crafted by skilled craftsmen
The silk-like jacquard-woven material is woven with the noble paulownia, bamboo, phoenix and kirin motifs favored by aristocrats throughout history. It is dyed using the traditional hand-dyed Yuzen gradation technique and sprinkled with gold glitter to create a more luxurious and gorgeous finish. The streamers are in five traditional colors based on the auspicious wavy undulation pattern. In the center, a winged flying dragon, the highest rank, is depicted to make the dragon in the legend of the Dragon Gate soar even higher.
Tokunaga Haruho, founder of Tokunaga Koinobori, is a representative Japanese painter from Okayama.
Learning from the famous bijin-ga (portraits of beautiful women) artist Ito Shinsui, Haruho shocked the art world with her unprecedented refined and elegant carp streamers, painted with the delicate brushwork characteristic of Japanese painting and a unique worldview.
Representative carp streamers include "Celebratory Carp, Auspicious Sign" and "Presented Hand-dyed Yuzen Carp, Kyo Nishiki."
A hugely popular work that has transcended the ages and continues to be a long-selling product.
Threading, weaving, dyeing, cutting, sewing, swimming.
Every aspect of the fish is top-notch and the way they swim is a work of art.
Polyester jacquard fabric is made using more than double the number of threads compared to standard jacquard fabrics. This makes it stronger and allows the fabric to flutter more smoothly. It is also said to have a silk-like feel.
The paulownia, bamboo, and phoenix motifs, woven with sunlight, shine gently through the openwork, and float softly, leisurely, and gracefully.
Although there is not much gold leaf, it is elegant, like a Nishikigoi carp swimming gracefully in the water. Also, the five-colored streamers are colorful and have ivy drawn on their legs, creating a flying dragon.
Ivy has the meaning of pushing up to greater heights.

The skills of skilled craftsmen
Using intuition cultivated over many years, they carefully consider the daily changes in temperature and humidity and adjust the dye mixture to achieve a uniform dyeing process.
Feels like real silk
Auspicious Jaguar Weave
Regular jacquard weaving generally has 190 threads. A higher density version has 210 threads. These two types are said to be the most common.
However, Kitcho is made with a higher density of 318 threads, giving it a more lustrous and soft feel like silk. It also has a strong side as a carp streamer, while incorporating the paulownia, bamboo and phoenix motifs.

Relaxed and bright, the Gentle Breeze Line
We hope that the beautifully dyed carp streamers will swim gracefully in the refreshing breeze.
With this wish in mind, our skilled craftsmen cut the fabric.
Reliable sewing techniques
The final process in making carp streamers is sewing. To make one carp streamer, three different types of sewing machines are used to sew beautiful lines one stitch at a time with meticulous skill.
The careful finish is so well-known that it is said to be a work of art.
