Collaboration of tradition and art

We have started selling "Jun Mitsuhashi's carp streamer" as the second product of "Atelier".

A new type of carp streamer was completed by combining the traditional Japanese culture of carp streamers with art, and working together with dyeing artist Jun Mitsuhashi to develop the carp streamer.

Jun Mitsuhashi's soft colors and warm painting style have created unprecedented new value for carp streamers while still being based on tradition.

These carp streamers are colorful and warm, as if they have just jumped out of the artwork.

Carp streamers with soft curves and warmth

Although it has the shape of a carp streamer, it has a simple finish without the dorsal fin, but its unique form with soft curves and large tail fins is attractive.
By tapping their tails with a sewing machine, air can accumulate in their bellies, creating a distinctive plump shape when swimming.

Carp streamers are modern while still being based on tradition.

The attractive modern yet Japanese motifs and coloring of Jun Mitsuhashi's works have created carp streamers that are both traditional and modern.
The gentle touch and soft colors look great in Japanese, Western, and modern home designs.

To connect the carp streamers swimming outside to the future

<Limited sale of 3m set only>

Due to the declining birthrate and housing conditions, carp streamers are getting smaller and smaller, and the original appearance of carp streamers swimming outside is decreasing.
I believe that a carp streamer swimming gracefully in the sky is the true form of a carp streamer. The purpose of this project was to explore new designs for carp streamers that would fit in with modern architecture, in order to ensure that the scenery of carp streamers swimming on Children's Day does not disappear in the future.

We want you to see carp streamers swimming outside at home, so this time we will be selling a limited edition of 3m sets only.

The person we asked to come up with a new design was Jun Mitsuhashi, a dyer. While using traditional batik dyeing techniques, we thought that the delicate and gentle color sense, which was developed not only in two-dimensional designs but also in installations and three-dimensional designs, would be perfect for creating a new carp streamer design.

The warm form with soft curves and colorful colors were invented by Jun Mitsuhashi.
A new carp streamer was created by thinking of a combination from many design drawings.

Soft brush strokes and warm colors

In order to reproduce the soft brush strokes and warm colors that are the charm of Jun Mitsuhashi's work, we did not use the dyeing process often used for carp streamers, but instead tried to reproduce the colorful colors and shades of color.
The result is a carp streamer with an attractive rich color that contrasts with the strong traditional pattern dyeing.

Carp streamer production scene - from hand to hand -

The attractive modern yet Japanese motifs and coloring of Jun Mitsuhashi's works have created carp streamers that are both traditional and modern.
The gentle touch and soft colors look great in Japanese, Western, and modern home designs.
