Iyo Ittobori "Nagumo"
Hand-carved Hina dolls with a warm feel
This gorgeous May doll display features the Iyo Ichitobori "Nagumo" technique. It features a two-tiered set of a helmet, Momotaro, Kintaro, and a carp streamer. The display stand and folding screen are adorned with jacquard-woven thousand paper cranes, making this a truly luxurious May doll display.
Each motif has an auspicious meaning, so you can celebrate the festival by wishing for your child's health and success.

[Kabuto] A talisman that protects against misfortunes such as illness and accidents and prays for healthy growth.
[Kintaro] With the hope that you will grow up to be a healthy and kind person.
[Momotaro] This is a wish for the child to grow up healthy and strong, and to become a popular person. The five-colored streamers are meant to ward off evil spirits.
[Carp streamers] Celebrate the healthy growth of boys and wish them success in life.
The five-colored streamers are meant to ward off evil spirits.
[Kashiwamochi] Kashiwa leaves have the characteristic of not falling off until new buds appear, which is why they are associated with "an unbroken family line" and even "prosperity of descendants."
All of Nagumo's works are handcrafted by skilled artisans. Inheriting the style of the first generation of Buddhist sculptors, the works' distinctive gentle colors and compact, uncluttered scenes exude elegance and Japanese charm, and blend seamlessly with modern interiors. The wood used is cypress, which has a soft, beautiful grain and a fragrant aroma. The gentle fragrance of natural wood envelops you in a warm atmosphere.

The doll is made in the following order: wood carving → carving → coloring, and finally the eyes are added to complete the Nagumo wooden doll.

<Carving>
The two-stage process of rough carving and detailed finishing is carried out using over a dozen types of knives and chisels to carefully carve the piece. After carving is complete, the head is polished to a soft surface.

<Coloring>
The coloring process is divided into two stages: applying the base coat and then finishing the details. Over 20 different types of brushes are used skillfully to carefully color every last detail. Finally, eyes are added and Nagumo's wooden doll is complete.
*Please be careful.
Please note that as all dolls are hand-finished, the coloring and facial finish may not be exactly the same as in the photo.

With the skills of artisans
Carefully crafted down to the smallest detail
Everything from the display stand to the folding screen has been carefully crafted. The display stand also doubles as a storage box, and all the parts fit inside, so it can be stored compactly and doesn't take up much space, making it an ideal gift.

Please enjoy this wonderful Tango Festival, which will bring smiles to the faces of your whole family for years to come.
