The jacquard weave material with a silk-like texture is intricately woven with noble kiribaihouou (paulownia, bamboo, and phoenix) and kirin (qilin) patterns, favored by aristocrats throughout history. It is dyed using the traditional Yuzenぼかし (blurring) technique, enhanced with scattered gold to create an even more splendid finish. The windsock features the traditional five colors based on the auspicious wave-tatewaku pattern. At its center, a flying dragon with wings is depicted, symbolizing even greater leaps forward, inspired by the legend of the "Dragon Gate."

Shunho Tokunaga, founder of Tokunaga Koinobori,
is a leading Japanese painter from Okayama.

Studying under Shinsui Ito, famous for his beautiful women paintings, Shunho shocked the industry by creating unprecedented elegant and graceful koinobori with his unique worldview and delicate brushwork characteristic of Japanese painting.

His representative koinobori works include "Keishuku no Koi Kiccho" and "Kenjo Tezome Yuzen no Koi Kyo Nishiki."

Kiccho Jacquard Weave

Typically, jacquard weaves use around 190 threads, with 210 threads considered high-density. These two types are said to be the most common.
However, Kiccho is specially constructed with an even higher density of 318 threads, expressing a more lustrous and soft silk-like texture. While woven with the kiribaihouou (paulownia, bamboo, and phoenix) pattern, it also boasts strong durability as a koinobori.
