Artistic Nishikigoi, painted by Japanese artist Tokunaga Shuno.

The "Kenteishibozomen Yuzen no Koi Kyo-Nishiki" (literally, "Presentation-Quality Dyed Yuzen Carp, Kyo-Nishiki") features elegant Nishikigoi (brocaded carp) realistically depicted by the brush of Japanese painter Tokunaga Shuno. The unique coloration of Nishikigoi is rendered with a seven-color gradation dye, and fan-shaped gold accents are applied to the entire scales. To closely resemble real Nishikigoi, each black, red, and blue carp is dyed with a different pattern. The windsock, with a theme of water and sky, features an auspicious thousand cranes scattered across an indigo gradation, a traditional Japanese color. The material is a special three-dimensional woven fabric that gleams with a silvery-white luster when illuminated by sunlight.

Tokunaga Shuno, founder of Tokunaga Koinobori,
is a leading Japanese painter from Okayama.

With Ito Shinsui, famous for his bijinga (pictures of beautiful women), as his master, Shuno created unprecedentedly elegant koinobori with his exceptional worldview and delicate brushwork characteristic of Japanese painting, shocking the industry.

His representative works of koinobori include "Keishuku no Koi Kitcho" and "Kenteishibozomen Yuzen no Koi Kyo-Nishiki." These popular works continue to be bestsellers across generations.

Many refer to "Kyō-Nishiki" when talking about "Tokunaga Koinobori." This carp streamer has been a long-selling item since its launch, with a design that has not faded over time.
The polyester jacquard woven fabric is light and lively, swimming powerfully and beautifully. Gold leaf is applied to the scales, and combined with the fabric's luster and colors, it creates a more three-dimensional and impactful appearance. As its name "Yuzen" suggests, the traditional hand-dyeing by artisans, which reproduces the "Nishikigoi" drawn by a Japanese painter, beautifully highlights its classical aspect and tradition. Its presence and elegance are undoubtedly a universal symbol of Koinobori.

The "Kyō-Tsuru fukinagashi" (Kyō Crane Wind Streamer) features a simple design of a thousand cranes in shades of blue, a balance that harmonizes well with the vibrant colors of the Kyō-Nishiki. Since it has two blue lines, if a family crest or name is added in blue, it creates a powerful carp streamer with a blue gradation that seems to float in the sky as it flutters. The white areas of the fabric shimmer with a silvery-white color, making the family crest appear to float.
