An armor ornament that feels somehow gentle
within its dignified appearance.

Hare to Kurasu Original CompactKimekomi Doll "Homare Armor Series"

A compact Gogatsu Ningyo (May Doll) that exudes a quiet presence,
born from the Kimekomi technique.

Unlike grandiose armor, it has a simple and warm expression.
The artist's skill and sensibility are inherited, and each piece is carefully crafted.

This work, "Koen," is a grand armor
symbolized by a deep crimson color reminiscent of burning flames and a powerful lion's maedate (helmet crest).

The tsurubashiri (bowstring guide) incorporates the flame motif, a symbol of Fudo Myoo,
with a wish to ward off evil, and for strong will and unwavering protection.
It embodies a dignified nobility amidst its bravery.

A refined aesthetic that harmonizes with modern living.
This armor ornament, with its somewhat modern feel, blends naturally into various living spaces such as shelves, living rooms, and entryways, quietly conveying the wish for a child's growth each year.

1|Refined and Modern Form Created by the Kimekomi Technique

A clean silhouette with unnecessary elements removed, achieved precisely because of the Kimekomi technique of pressing fabric into grooves by hand.
This allows for a compact and sharp aesthetic.

Based on the traditional form of votive armor, but with restrained ornamentation,
we have created a linear and refined form.

Compact yet dignified.
While evoking Japanese aesthetics, its unassuming nature
blends naturally into modern living spaces,
quietly and subtly adorning the room.

2|Detailed Design

The design of the tsurubashiri (bowstring guide) on the胴 (body) and the maedate (helmet crest) was conceived by re-configuring various historical materials.
It is important to us now to preserve the meaning of wishing for a child's healthy growth.

A "tsurubashiri" is a decorative plate made of leather or cloth placed in the center of the torso of a Gogatsu Ningyo armor.

Tsurubashiri

The Tsurubashiri of
Fudo Myoo has been revered as a guardian Buddha who cuts through doubt and misfortune and guides people to the right path.

His angry expression is not meant to instill fear, but is said to be a manifestation of his deep compassion and determination to protect people.

An unwavering heart, an unyielding will, strength to face difficulties.
The Fudo Myoo design embedded in the tsurubashiri reflects the wish for children to stand on their own feet and move forward at each stage of their lives.

While a traditional pattern, the elegant design, which does not feel too archaic and even appears modern, showcases the artisan's exquisite taste.

Lion

― A simple yet quietly imposing maedate ―

Embodying Dignified Protection

The maedate (helmet crest) was handcrafted into a prototype and formed using rigid super-hard gypsum.
While expressing the strength of a lion, its form is not overly fierce, emphasizing a dignified appearance overall.

The lion is a吉祥 (auspicious) motif that has long been cherished as a protector, warding off evil and safeguarding its owner. Its majestic form embodies the wish to avert disaster and watch over healthy growth.

Quietly, yet surely.
This maedate stands as an unwavering guardian, powerfully supporting a child's journey.

5|Expressive with a lighted base

You can choose from two colors for the lighted base: plain wood or black lacquer.
Gentle light spreads from the bottom of the base, allowing you to beautifully enjoy the shadows and three-dimensionality of the armor.
The charm is also that you can enjoy different expressions day and night.

6|Artist's Plaque

A "sakufuda" is a wooden plaque displayed alongside a helmet or armor, bearing the name of the doll's artist or craftsman. It certifies that the doll is an "authentic" piece crafted by a skilled artisan, enhancing its formality and trustworthiness as a gift.

7|Comes with a special box for storage.

Gogatsu Ningyo (May Dolls) are meant to be displayed for a long time.
The Homare Armor Series comes with a special box suitable for storage.

It protects the doll from dust and humidity,
allowing for safe storage.

The "Homare Armor Series" is an original project by Hare to Kurasu.
These May Dolls possess the artistry of a craft, setting them apart from mass-produced items.
While preserving the traditional Kimekomi technique, the design is adapted to blend into modern living spaces.

It naturally integrates into daily life,
and quietly conveys the wish for a child's growth each year.

Please enjoy a wonderful Children's Day that will bring smiles to your entire family for years to come.
