These May dolls from the Iyo Ittobori "Nagumo" series are a two-tiered display set featuring a helmet, Kintaro, Momotaro, and koinobori (carp streamers). Made with pure gold leaf painting, and a gorgeous display stand and folding screen adorned with jacquard woven cranes, these May dolls are truly splendid.

Nagumo's works are all handcrafted by skilled artisans. Inheriting the sculpting tradition of the first Buddhist sculptors, their unique gentle colors and compact, uncluttered scenes blend elegance and Japanese aesthetics, fitting well with modern interiors. The wood used is soft, beautiful, and fragrant Hiba wood. The gentle scent of natural wood creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The process involves carving, then sculpting, then coloring.
Finally, the eyes are added to complete Nagumo's wooden dolls.

＜Carving＞
The carving process consists of two stages: rough carving and fine detail finishing, meticulously carved using over a dozen types of small knives and chisels. After carving, the head is polished to a soft, rounded surface.

＜Coloring＞
The coloring process is also divided into two stages: base coating and fine detail finishing. Over twenty types of brushes are skillfully used to meticulously color every detail. Finally, the eyes are added to complete Nagumo's wooden dolls.
