Feeling hope in a single carp streamer
The founder, Haruho Tokunaga, is a Japanese painter from Okayama Prefecture.
In 1946, when he returned from the battlefield, he was struck by the sight of a single carp streamer swimming leisurely through the city of Okayama, which had been reduced to burnt ruins by air raids.
─ The country is destroyed, but the mountains and rivers remain ─
(Meaning: Even though the country was destroyed by war, the mountains and rivers remain unchanged.)
These words crossed my mind. I thought of the strength of life in the newborn boy, and felt the carp streamers breathing life into recovery.
Two years later, his first son was born.
Thinking of the carp streamers of that day, I put my brush to the Japanese paper.
The company was founded after the company created a carp streamer for its eldest son.
Tokunaga Koinobori was founded in 1947.
Making carp streamers
Carp streamers continue to change with the times,
Even after 70 years, the sentiment continues to be passed down.
World peace, Japan's reconstruction,
Family happiness and smiles all over Japan.
It's hope for the future.
My feelings have not changed from the past to the present.
Making carp streamers to decorate and color special occasions is
Continuing to create happiness.
