Hare to Kurasu's Kurashiki Temari

The Hare to Kurasu original Kurashiki Temari
are created by combining auspicious patterns passed down from ancient times,
and are offered as wonderful gifts for various occasions.

【Pattern: Suzu (Bell)】

The "bell pattern" is one of Japan's traditional motifs, a heartwarming design that combines the adorable, round shape of a bell with gentle wishes. With its soft sound, it is an auspicious motif symbolizing happiness and warding off evil.

1. Symbol of warding off evil and protection

Bells have long been considered tools that emit sacred sounds. The sound of bells used in shrines is believed to have the power to exorcise evil spirits and invite purity. Therefore, the bell motif carries the meaning of "warding off evil" and "averting misfortune."

2. Gentle sound = sign of bringing happiness

The soft, resonating sound of bells has been considered a "sound that invites fortune" and a "sound that soothes the heart," thus bringing happiness. For this reason, the bell pattern is also a motif expressing wishes like "May good things come your way" and "May happiness quietly resonate."

3. Pattern wishing for healthy growth of children

The bell pattern is often used on children's clothing and accessories, such as kimonos for shrine visits (Omiyamairi) and baby clothes (Ubugi), because it embodies the wish for warding off evil and healthy growth.

Since ancient times, bells have been used in shrines, and their sound is believed to have the power of "purification" and "exorcism," calming the mind and cleansing spaces.

Also, the sight of a bell rolling around signifies wishes for "things to proceed smoothly" and "each day to pass brightly and lightly," often used as an auspicious motif on amulets and baby clothes to "invite fortune" and "resonate luck."

<Recommended celebratory occasions>
Especially suitable as a gift for milestones for children, such as baby showers, Shichi-Go-San, and Hatsuzekku.
Also, in addition to being a charm or amulet, the sound of a bell, which serves as a signal, is favored as a motif to bless and protect anniversary and milestone celebrations.
Many people find healing in the sound of bells, so it is also chosen as a gift to convey the wish for "a peaceful life."

"Coral Red," a Japanese traditional color

― Soft crimson imbued with ocean prayers ―

Coral red (Sangoshoku) is a traditional Japanese color based on red coral, a bounty of the sea.
This soft crimson with a slight whitish tint is a color that combines elegance with tenderness and grace.

In the past, coral itself was treasured as a "symbol of wealth and longevity," and red coral, in particular, was often given to women as an amulet for warding off evil, safe childbirth, and protection, considered a "gem that protects life."

Furthermore, since coral grows slowly in the sea, accumulating natural power,
it has been believed since ancient times to be imbued with spiritual power and connected to the gods.

Red coral, in particular, due to its resemblance to the color of blood, was considered "the power of life" and "a symbol of motherhood,"
used in prayers for childbirth, rebirth, and the healthy growth of children.

Also, as a color associated with sea gods and dragon gods,
coral and its color were symbols of "purification," "protection," and "blessing" in sea rituals and water ceremonies.

Messages contained in the color coral red

🌸 The warmth that protects life
🌸 Gentleness and inner strength
🌸 Blessings and prayers for loved ones

Coral red is not just cute; it is a color that brings a sense of security, as if protected by an invisible power.
When this color adorns a temari, it will become a protective gift that quietly nestles deep in the heart.

Handcrafted Kurashiki Temari
with meticulous attention to detail

Kurashiki Temari are carefully handcrafted one by one.

First, the core is made from traditional rice husks, wrapped in paper, and shaped into a ball. Threads are then wrapped around it multiple times to stabilize the core, giving it a round shape and elasticity.

For the threads, we use cotton threads dyed ourselves to pursue the "Kurashiki Temari" aesthetic.
